Coastal Croatian native yeast hand-harvested red blend? Da! The history of this winery dates back one hundred years when proprietor Mark Cota returned to the village of Oklaj after working in America. He started with building a house and a wine cellar, and over the years bought plots of surrounding land around Promina Mountain, and started growing different varietals. His great-grandson, Petar has continued his work and legacy and combines the juice from these vineyards into quaffable, delicious, natural wine. Pero J’oero is juicy and deep, with currants, raspberries, and a meandering of laurel and thyme. This is one of those instances where history and care are palpable in the taste of the wine.
We loved this bottle with veggie fare like cashew cheese and falafel burgers, but take it for a spin with really anything light. Try it chilled if you need some quenching. Workout wine!
