Chateau Deluxe 2018 "Pet Nat" Sparkling Ramato Willamette Valley
Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Trousseau Gris
Want to feel adventurous and safe at the same time? Pop the cap off of this jazzy juice. Pet-Nats and orange wine are all the rage right now, and this is your double whammy. Ramato is an ancient winemaking technique, much like they style of orange winemaking, where white grapes such as Pinot Gris are fermented on their skins, giving the juice its color and structure.
We are so impressed with the winemaking going on here. The choice of grapes, when they were picked and how they were fermented is both thoughtful and artful. But what we love most about this wine, and trust us, there is a LOT to love, are the not-too-funky Pet-Nat or Petillant Naturel qualities. In a sea of clunky, overly funky (“natty”) natural wines, there is an elegance about this one. You don’t have to wrap your head around it or convince yourself it’s good. Every sip is a giddy dream.
Pair with literally anything, from making miracles out of your farm box to your post-protest takeout.
